Mount Mgoun Is the second highest peak of the Atlas Mountains  4071 m, a   journey of contrasts and meetings in the pleasant valleys of Bougmez, a hike for lovers of wilderness, it is a beautiful landscape.

Unlike the Toubkal region, Mount Mgoun consist of the typical sedimentary rocks of the high atlas with their characteristic escarpment, long crested and deep gorges, cut by the rivers through the softer rocks as the young fold mountains have risen.

Description

 
Day 1: Arrival in Marrakech, transfer to Riad for check-in, and free time at leisure to explore the city. Overnight at your Riad.
Day 2: After breakfast, transfer to Azilal and then further to the remote mountain village of Abachkou. Begin hiking towards the small village of Rougoult. Enjoy a picnic along the way. Walking: 4-5 hrs.
Day 3: Hike up to the high pass Tziz Rougoult with splendid views over the valley of Tassaout. Camp near the river Tassaout and explore the gorges in the afternoon. Walking: 5 hrs.
Day 4: Continue hiking up to the pass with stunning views over the canyon and the valley of Amezri. Encounter nomadic people living in dark brown tents. Walking: 5 hrs.
Day 5: Ascend the holy mountain early in the morning for great views, then descend to the plateau near the sources of the M’goun river. Walking: about 8 hours.
Day 6: Trek over two passes, Tizi N’Ougmar and Tizi–n-Aït Bouilli, before descending into the gorges of Arous. Pass by herding settlements and end the trek in the valley of Aït Bougoumez, sleeping in a Berber guesthouse. Walking: 6 hours.
Day 7: Transfer back to Marrakech, check-in at your Riad, and explore the Medina, Place Jamaa El Fna, souks, Koutoubia Mosque, and Bahia Palace. Enjoy a farewell dinner at a local restaurant.
Day 8: Transfer to the airport for departure, marking the end of the tour.
