Marrakech & Trekking in M’goun maountains

Mount Mgoun Is the second highest peak of the Atlas Mountains 4071 m, a journey of contrasts and meetings in the pleasant valleys of Bougmez, a hike for lovers of wilderness, it is a beautiful landscape.

Unlike the Toubkal region, Mount Mgoun consist of the typical sedimentary rocks of the high atlas with their characteristic escarpment, long crested and deep gorges, cut by the rivers through the softer rocks as the young fold mountains have risen.

Day 1 Marrakech
Marrakech-Arrival
Upon arrival at Marrakech Airport, you will be greeted by our chauffeur and transferred to your riad for check-in. Enjoy some free time at your leisure to explore or relax. Overnight at your riad.
Day 2 Marrakech–azilal–Abachkou–Rougoult
Marrakech–azilal–Abachkou–Rougoult
After breakfast, transfer to Azilal by minibus, covering a distance of 170 km (105 miles). From Azilal, we'll travel along a winding mountain road for an additional 40 km (24 miles) to the remote village of Abachkou. Here, you'll meet our local team, including mule drivers who will help transport luggage and camping gear.

We will then begin our trek, walking at a leisurely pace towards the small village of Rougoult. Along the way, we'll enjoy a picnic lunch. The total walking time for the day is approximately 4 to 5 hours.
Day 3 Rougoult–Idoughmamen

Today, we will hike up to the high pass of Tizi Rougoult, which stands at 2,860 meters (9,383 feet). From here, you'll enjoy breathtaking views over the Tassaout Valley. We’ll continue along a high route, offering splendid vistas of the valley below.

After descending to the lower end of the pass at Tizi Ousaderm, we'll set up our bivouac near the Tassaout River. The walk will take about 5 hours. In the afternoon, you'll have time to visit the nearby gorges and explore the area's natural beauty.
Day 4 Idoughamem–Plateau Targdit

We’ll start the day with a gradual ascent to the pass, following a mule track. Once at the top, you’ll be rewarded with stunning views over the canyon and the vibrant valley of Amezri.

As we continue our walk, the landscape transforms into a fascinating karst terrain, where you might encounter nomads who live here during the summer in their traditional dark brown camel-hair tents. The walk today will take approximately 5 hours.
Day 5 Targdid–Irghil M’Goun–Oulilimt

Today, we will ascend the holy mountain, starting early in the morning to catch the best views. The early start increases our chances of enjoying clear, breathtaking vistas from the summit.

After reaching the top, we’ll take a different trail on the descent, which leads us further east across the plateau, eventually arriving near the sources of the M’goun River. The hike today will be around 8 hours, offering a full day of exploration and stunning scenery.
Day 6 Oulilimt–Agouti

Today after a small warming up we go over the first pass Tizi N’Ougmar (2850m.) Then there is another pass Tizi–n-Aït Bouilli (2900m.) before we go down in the gorges of Arous.

Through this beautiful valley we pass by herding settlements before we end up in the villages of Aït Saïd, Arous en Agouti.

We end up our trekking in the valley of Aït Bougoumez where we sleep in a Berber guesthouse (with a shower!) in the middle of ‘Roses Valley. Walking 6 hours.
Day 7 Agouti–Marrakech
Agouti–Marrakech
After breakfast, transfer back to Marrakech and check in at your riad. Once settled, meet your guide and proceed to explore the Medina, including Place Jamaa El Fna. Discover the vibrant souks and view the Koutoubia Mosque from the outside. Continue your visit to the Bahia Palace and other key monuments. In the evening, enjoy a farewell dinner before returning to your riad for an overnight stay.
